    Diagnostic service for 'lizard flu'

    Dear lizard owners,

Together with other researchers I'm currently doing some research through Murdoch University into a novel lizard nidovirus
which has been found to be closely associated with respiratory disease in shingleback lizards.

As part of further testing for this disease, we have set up a diagnostic service.

If your lizard is showing signs such as; nasal discharge, eye discharge, pale coloured gums inside their mouth, and/or severe weight loss, you can discuss with your veterinarian whether they recommend testing for this virus.

If this interests you, please email me and I can give you the sampling form and information sheet to share with your veterinarian.

    Cheers, Freya

Hi Freya, and welcome to the forum.

Interesting subject, though some links to related info/articles would probably gain more interest from people that don't specifically keep the species, thus helping to spread awareness of the virus.

    Thanks for the heads up.
