Sorry @briansworms I didn't get notified that you responded here. Yes everything is made from 25mm Styrofoam, and I used watered down grout to cover the entire lot.

Everything completed, decided to go tiles rather than turf while he's young then upgrade to something more natural later on.
Now it's testing for the next week, monitoring temps, and allowing it to de-fume before picking up the little one for his new home

come on Dave, you've been around dragons long enough to know that dragons need a rough surface to wear down the nails. At least chuck some dirt or sand on the floor to help in this regard.
The background looks great though, well done there.

Hard to tell from the photos, but the basking platforms have sand through the clearcoat, has a real sandpaper feel to it. Pros: assists with nail care. Cons: makes it that bit harder to clean the surface
If not much time is spent on the platform, I'll contemplate replacing a couple of the tiles with a substrate which will allow digging, and feed well away from it. There'll also be a branch added once I find one that suits, and of course some greenery

I get that you have tried to make it rough but sand under the clearcoat isn't rough, better off to chuck sand on after the clearcoat so it is an external surface.
Plus there is no problem feeding on sand,I have been feeding on sand for 15 plus years, never had an impaction. Also all my babies go straight from incubator to sand.

Sorry mate that's what I meant. Clearcoated, and sprinkled sand over the wet clearcoat, so essentially the surface of the platform is in fact sand
