    Beardie hates the heat??

Hi guys, So Mushu is a weird ass lizard who is refusing to bask.

He was lethargic and I took him to a specialist who said he was too cold and had parasites. I have since redone his enclosure and have the temps perfect (38'C ambient temp and 40-42'C surface temp on hot side, 30'C on cold side), and updated his UV to a t5 UVB Arcadia tube. He has also recently been deemed parasite free, and isnt shedding.

Basically he sleeps on the cold side, wont get up unless I move him, if I put him in the basking spot he stays there for about two minutes then moves back. The weirdest part though, is he will open his mouth while hanging on the cold side, like they do when they thermoregulate. When I take his temperature he's only about 32'C and the vet said he should stay around 35-39'C. He eats fine, but has quite a bit of undigested food in his poo.

Anyone have similar issues with their bearded dragons or have any ideas. Honestly, its like he doesn't know he is supposed to be a desert animals.

I'm going to ring the vet back this week if he doesnt change his behaviour.

first up he should have a 10UV within about 30cm,can he climb up close to the UV and heat? Do you have branches/rocks at an angle to climb on ? You need to give him choices about where he basks,if he is on the floor he can't get warm enough

Oh forgot mention, the T5 tube is a 10.0 UVB, T5 is referring to the tube size. He has a number of rocks at different heights and an angled log to bask on under the heat lamp and also a cave which reaches up to 40'C where he can get heat without UV.. He has all the options but always picks the cold side

Today was a pleasant surprise when he used his cave on the hot side in the afternoon.. but still not basking. Starting to think maybe theres an issue with the UV, the new tubes are meant to be stronger and I have it unfiltered about 50cm from the floor (he has spots to get closer to it). He seems to be in shade a lot though.

Update, he's still a weirdo but starting to bask more. Also not in the shade as much. Still running a little cold when I check his temp but is definitely starting to be more active - hopefully it just a slow (very slow) recovery from the parasite meds.
