when is best time to buy juvenile dragon?

Hi all, I've built my enclosure, still have to finalise the heating and lighting. Question is....since it's winter, not much happening in the world. When are juvies going to be available for sale? Or more precisely, when is the best time to buy one? Like in a few months when warmer weather hits us?

And who in Melbourne area is a good guy to buy from??

Usually babies come onto the market towards Christmas time, although some breeders may still have some now.
I don't know any breeders in Melbourne but shops like Amazing Amazon sell reptiles
    slave to all my reptiles

I would try Amazing Amazon. Paul Stokes the owner has been buying worms and some woodies off me for years. Always happy to point someone his way.

Yeah, I kinda knew to probably wait until the warmer weather hits towards Christmas. I didn't really want to be constantly checking up on juvies during winter to make sure their were still 'alive'...

I was kinda hoping for a local guy/gal to buy from, as pet shops are really expensive. I've seen beardies go for around $150, whereas breeders about half that or even less.

I'll just wait a few more months and see what happens...like I said, still have to wire up the heating/lighting etc.

    cheers

Depends what you're after. Normal scale beardeds are often less than $100, but for something you're hopefully keeping for years, it really does come down to you get what you pay for.
My leatherback hypo was $150 from a private breeder from East Melbourne. Unfortunately he has decided to focus on his legless breeds (snakes) and isn't breeding anymore. You can also look at interstate breeders and have it sent over. I believe Andrew (asw) on here still breeds?

Depending on price, I reckon I could freight a nice dragon to you in Melbourne and still be half the price of any pet supplier Australia wide. Support the Forum that supports you.
