I remember back when you teased us with this one before. Going to jump in a do it? I like BSFL but I have no luck keeping them alive so will need to come with a "maggots for dummies" guide please.

So how are your superworms coming ? I have recently started a super farm too. I only have 3 beetles so far with 2 more on the turn, still waiting for little worms to appear

They sure do! I'm positive they're supers, Livefoods markets them as giant mealworms but a) you don't keep them in the fridge and b) the official name is the same as supers so not sure where the wires are crossed but... I buy a few lots of the small size and one lot of bigger ones. Chuck them in a bag of rolled oats and feed every few days, once every few weeks I give them a sift to clean out the poop and we're all good. They last me upwards of 8 months, and that's because they're all gone by then not because they died. I will have a go at making little wormy babies though. Psyching myself up to it haha.

apparently super poop is good fertilizer so don't chuck it out. Making babies is easy, just isolate some worms ( they don't change when in company) I bought a small multi compartment tray to separate them. Sometimes they die so just replace them,it takes a couple of months for the change. Don't feed them. Here's a pic of a couple on the turn. When they become beetles put them in a tub with bran and chunks of carrot they lay the babies on the carrot. When they do just put the babies in another tub with bran and wait for them to get big enough to feed out.20190108_082326.jpg

Aren't they supposed to have a little bit of bran in with them? I haven't tried to breed them but sure l have seen pictures with bran. Ren do they do ok in rolled oats? Bran mites are a problem so oats might be a better option.

Mine do great on oats. Just the cheapest supermarket ones in the cereal section is all I use and I feed them mostly sweet potato.

Oats should be fine and yeah I only buy the cheap no name bran $2 or $2.50 a bag and sweet potato is fine. I mainly use carrot as it's what I have on hand for the dragons, the woodies and the crix (and me)
