    You can start woodies any time you like,just make sure they are appropriate size ie: no bigger than the gap between the eyes.
    Crix start to chirp when they grow wings, so as above feed when smaller than the gap between the eyes

    they certainly do pass through the filter,I have more baby woodies than any other size lol, I have trouble rounding up the mediums for my pygmy beardies

    Not sure if it'll help but I was having issues with heat too, I got my hands on a second hand Habistat dimmer and haven't looked back. Takes some minimal tweaking to maintain at temp and I still check with the gun regularly but it's a major stress reliever. Because I'm a technophobe and very distrusting I've also trained my beardie to have his enclosure door open - just in case it fails on a hot day...
