Oh yeah, the walnut shell...How can they possibly think some rock hard indigestible thing is safer than sand or some other items?
Lets feed them gravel, it's safe !!!
It will fit through their digestive tracts and come out the other end with no problems hahah

I was stupid enough to fall for the pet shop speil and try a bag. Horrid stuff and I needed some paraffin oil to help my boy pass what he had licked, I put the rest of it in the chooks nesting boxes thinking it wouldn't go to waste but nope, they refused to use them until I took it back out. Buried in the front garden now (walnut not chooks).

You have learned a valuable lesson ,don't believe a single word from pet shops! They only want to separate you from your hard earned and most of the staff have no idea about proper care.
For proper advice find a good quality breeder, talk to people here or if you're desperate listen to people on crackbook, haha. But whatever you do don't believe anything the yanks tell you, they still think beardies come from the jungle.

Yes, learned that one the hard way. I went to that particular store because someone at work with beardies recommended them. I don't know if I went on a bad day, got a new employee or what the go was but haven't been back.
