Hi Guys, this is my first post in a while. All is going well with Draco (the name my daughter gave her).

We hadour first poop in the bath after my last post and the five days later, last Tuesday she had another poop in the bath. This morning was the first time she pooped in her enclosure.

For the past two weeks since we had her I have been building her a hide. This morning it was ready and we put it into the enclosure. She immediately explored the hide, climbing on top of it and checking underneath.

Tonight, just before lights out she went into the hide and buried herself under the substrate. Is this normal? Is it brumation? If it is, how to I deal with it further?

    Thanks

If she is heading into brumation she will slow down during the day but she might just want to snuggle in for the night. Some sleep in the hide every night and some never use them. My 10YO has never been in a hide, he wont even go in the hollow log. Some of mine brumate in the cave but sleep outside during summer.
But as yours is young you should try to keep it awake during her first winter to make her big and strong. Although sometimes no matter what we do they want to sleep as it happens in nature.

    Thanks.

She woke up this morning, albeit 2 hours later than usual. Also still feeding good on the crickets and alert in her enclosure. It was the first time I fed her in her enclosure. In the long run it will just be easier if someone has to look after her while we're away.

We realized last night that she has something smal in her right eye. If her eye is open you can see it, but she closes the eye most of the time. Should I leave it as is or should I try to rinse it out.

Is it sand or some grit? Then I'd try to flush it out

It seems like it. It is just a small speck so I can't exactly figure out what it is.

I'm not sure how you'd go about it, with a human you could hold the eyelid open but with a small reptile I don't know how you would do that but I wish you the best of luck.

You could try to drop water from your finger into the corner of her eye - even if she closes her eye at time she will open it again and hopefully water will get in and cause her to blink which might help dislodge whatever is in there.
