    Coccidiosis and RI

    Hi all!

I've taken Vita to the vet and it's not good.
They've taken X-rays and said that she's suffering from a resperatory infection.
The faecal sample showed massive amounts of coccidiosis.

I have to give her Nocadox for the infection and Toltrazuril for the parasites.

I also have to force feed her, since her food response is gone.
    She's getting worse.

I took the sand out and switch it for paper towel, just to keep it as clean as possible.

If you have any suggestions or tips, I love to hear them.

This post also exists is another thread, but I figured to place it in sickbay as well.
Here are the responses so far:

    Kimmy:
I am sorry to hear Vita is not well. I can't really offer you any sound advise as I have been lucky enough to avoid any problems other than Jax having worms once. In that instance I did remove the sand and replace it with newspaper so I could keep it clean more effectively. I'm sure someone will be here soon who can help you , we have some very knowledgeable members. In the meantime keep us updated on how she is going. Fingers crossed she makes a speedy recovery.

    Dragonlover1:
Not good news but it can be fixed if she isn't too far gone. Respiratory infection (RI) is a beardies worst nightmare but the right meds at the right time can solve this,I have had this with a couple of my reptiles over the years.
Coccidiosis is also curable, this is usually a problem when there are other problems as they tend to compound on each other.
Changing to newspaper is a good idea when sick, change it daily to remove any parasites.
keep the enclosure as dry as possible (no water bowl) just drip water on her nose to drink.
Good luck and keep us posted, but be aware that RI can be fatal.

I just got back from the vet. I had her put to sleep.
    She was deteriorating rapidly.
    It hurts
