58A60908-4C92-475B-9B62-79E59998CD5B.jpgI’ve also built a base unit for the enclosure but I made an error on the measurements for the doors so have had to reorder them. If you look closely, you can see the doors are sitting 2-3mm proud of the top/bottom. Some might not worry about it but it’s something that will drive me nuts everytime I look at it.

Again, I’m keeping this thread as detailed as possible, hoping this may help someone in the future…

with the wheels how many have you put on ? If it's only 4 you might have a problem with sag, which will cause the enclosure to sag in the middle also. Which in turn will make the glass doors hard to open.
If you have some in the middle you should be fine

Yeah, I was concerned about sagging overtime so I used 6, 2 in the middle.

Forgot to write an update. Been busy and havenít been doing much more to the enclosure.
I picked up some 60w, 75w and 100w flood globes from Bunnings. I ordered an 80w DHP but they sent out a 50w so will see if it has enough heat, otherwise Iíll get the 80w sent out. I also picked up 3x ceramic fittings with brackets to space the off roofÖ may need another one but weíll see how I go. link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/15478988...mis&media=COPY

I havenít taken another photo of todays progress but Iíve got substrate in there and a log which sits about 300mm from the DHP. Iíll get a photo up tomorrow. Iíve temporarily taped the light fittings in place as I donít want to screw then in until im certain of their placement.
Im testing temps now with only the 50w DHP and a 75w flood next to it. Itís been on for about an hour and the top of the log is 38 but from what Iíve read I need it to be 40-43 for a baby, is this correct?
Are the temps im looking for: 22-26 cool side, 30-35 hot side, 40-43 basking area?
Can anyone confirm correct placement of probe for thermostat? I havenít purchased yet but will get one this week for the DHP.
Iíve got two digital thermometers and I am planning on placing probes on floor of hot and cool sides - is this correct?

And - is 250-300mm from heat source too close/dangerous?

So after about 2 hours total , the temps were: 23 (cool side floor) / 26 (hot side floor) / 43 top of log (basking). The log is only 190mm from globe so I think that’s too close. The hot side is too cold as well I’m guessing. I’ll try with 2x 75w globes next and no DHP. Or I can move up to the 100w.

your hot end temps sound good, but cool end needs to be higher, around 28C . temp probe should be near the basking spot to get proper temp reading. 300mm is the correct distance for UV.
I'm curious about what you say is DHP ??

I have two digital thermometers and a IR temp gun. The digital ones I was going to mount the probes at floor level on each side, is this recommended?
The log to UV is about 290mm but it’s only 190mm from flood globe. The UVB says 250-400mm distance so that’s ok I’m hoping. I’m concerned about the heat lights as I don’t want it getting burnt. I’ll take a photo tonight as then you’ll have a visual of setup and hopefully can advise if things are noticeably wrong.

The idea of a DHP came about because I was looking at a CHE for overnight as the room can drop to 15. When looking into them I came across DHP’s. Then when I was in a retail pet store I was speaking to a staff member who said he has bearded dragons and since adding a DHP he has noticed they are a lot more active. He did explain why they are beneficial etc something about it penetrating deep into muscle tissue, but I’ve forgotten now. All I remember thinking was - if I’m going to buy something for overnight temps, a DHP will be the way to go. I don’t know if they’re a marketing gimmick or if they are anything special at all but if you have knowledge on them, please let me know your thoughts on them. I was thinking of having it next to a flood light so that it has the best of both worlds but I still need to check if it’ll keep the enclosure from dropping below 18 overnight on its own…

OK I like your background, very different. Is that log stable ? I'm a bit worried about that falling over and injuring your dragon. You still didn't explain DHP , I have no idea what that is. Also you don't need night heat, beardies come from the desert where temps drop to freezing at night and inside your house temps wont get that low.
We had a consensus a few years ago where we agreed that 12C was the minimum temp for an inside dragon.I think the probes should be higher, floor temps don't tell you what the air temp is. Maybe half way up the back wall near each end would give you a better reading.
